Put Out The Light

2018

An object is not so attached to its name that one cannot find for it another one which is more suitable. — René Magritte

How do we relate to death? How can we talk about something which no living being has experienced? Which language shall we use to talk about something outside of the borders of language?

The Fourth Stage wants to give a new name to death. The piece places different subjective perspectives about death together. Some of these come from writers like Langston Hughes, Emily Dickenson, Irvin Yalom and Patricia de Martelaere. Other thoughts are gathered from people related to the company or created during the process. Put Out The Light is a collage, reaching for an understanding of that which cannot be understood.

Written, directed and performed: Mirte Bogaert, Vincent Stephen (The Fourth Stage) Light design and –installation, scenography and costume: Randiane Sandboe

Coproduced with: Bergen Dansesenter – regionalt kompetansesenter for dans and Frontlosjefestivalen Supported by: Bergen Kommune and FFUK
