  • ArtLab #7 Tromsø

    25 September 2021

Together with Morten Wintervold, I was invited to take part in ArtLab #7, initiated by Tale Næss, co-organised by Rad Art and Dansearena Nord, and hosted by Small Projects Tromsø. ArtLab is a laboratory for performing arts where the artists in the laboratory can focus on researching a specific question without having the pressure of a production. Every Lab ends in a public presentation. Morten and Mirte were focussing on what it means to translate dance in to poetry and poetry into dance, with the goal to erase the hierarchy of the female speechless woman dancing to the words of the male speaker. Taking point of departure in an archeological report of "Hillesøykvinna", Morten and Mirte worked with keywords like silence, slow time and the skeleton. The research ended in a public showing.

  • Exhausted though fully loaded

    18 August 2021

Being part of ATLAS program during ImPulsTanz 2021 was an incredibly intense 5-week long experience. Workshops with inspiring dancers and choreographers, meetings with colleagues from around the world, discussions, seeing performances, and biking around whole Vienna on a pink ImPulsTanz bike. It was something unforgettable. I also hosted a workshop as part of my research for the next piece REtransLATE, and met some great people and visions there. We showed some of the results during the presentations of the ATLAS program. Now it is time to digest and transform all these impressions in projects to come.

  • Performing Solowork - forever working title tonight

    28 October 2020

Looking forward to be sharing what I have been doing as a practice for the last months. Solowork - forever working title is a dance material in progress. The material is based on the idea that the movements produced are like a spoken language: clear in its quality and rhythmically correlating to speaking and breathing. Simple in its form, I share this dance material in 5 variations.

  • Letter Project A choreography has premiered!

    11 September 2020

Here I was sitting today - performing in some way - at BIT Teatergarasjen, premiering Letter Project: A choreography. It was a different way of performing, connecting with the audiences on a long time scale, where distances between audience members and me are defined by geographical positions around the world. Letters are now performing their choreography between different places in Norway, France, Belgium, UK, USA and Sweden, and will soon be connecting several of you by the same performance. It has just started, curious how it will continue!

Thanks to Vincent Stephen and Raquel Maia Marques for a great collaboration, thanks to BIT Teatergarasjen for co-producing this piece, and thanks to Kulturrådet (Art Council Norway) to support the project!

  • New project coming up!

    5 June 2020

It has been a silent time in the sense of moving my body around, travelling from one place to another. My activities in outside spaces have been radically reduced the last three months, as they have been for most of us around the globe. Rather than moving outside, movements took place inside of my body. It has been a time of reflecting and opening up new spaces.

I am happy to announce that this resulted in a new project coming up soon: Letter Project: A choreography. Read more about it here.

With 20 more years and 39 more editions ahead, we can conclude a very great first edition, which, yes, you can read about by clicking HERE. Voila! Thanks Bergen Dansesenter and Kulturrådet to support this work. Thanks also to Michikazu Matsune, who made a first meeting possible.
